John Hays Prayer Letter: Mighty Works of God in Africa and Asia

Greetings in the precious name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. This month we rejoice over the mighty works of God in both Africa and Asia. From the deserts of Pakistan to the heart of the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Gospel is being proclaimed, lives are being transformed, and communities are gaining access to safe, clean drinking water.

Testimony from the DRCRevival and a New Church Planted

Greetings! As shared in our earlier communication, we witnessed an outpouring of God’s grace in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Every day for 6 days, over 100 people accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Saviour during our daily programs. This mighty harvest was the result of preaching the Word of God alongside the Pure Water Ministry outreach.

By God’s grace, one more church was planted—a beacon of light and hope for the local community. Truly, your labor of love for Christ is not in vain.

Outreach Report: Pakistan Desert RegionsSouls Saved, Baptisms Celebrated, Churches Planted

By His abundant grace, our team safely returned from ministering in 10 remote desert villages. People traveled from 21 different communities to hear the Gospel. Over 4 days, we shared Christ with 320 people. While 3 villages resisted the message, we continue to pray for them. Praise God, 170 individuals professed Jesus Christ as their Saviour.

In one village without a baptismal facility, 36 new believers dug a simple pit in the earth. They lined it with rose petals before entering the water—a powerful image of resurrection: death transformed into life.

Pure Water Distribution

We provided 24 water-purification systems to families without access to safe drinking water, using each moment to share Jesus’ promise of “living water” (John 4:14). This practical act of love opened many hearts to the Gospel.

Five New Churches Established

In the wake of this outreach, five new congregations have been formed, serving as centers for worship, discipleship, and community ministry. Follow-up visits and leadership training are planned in the coming months.

I do not understand how I can give water to Jesus, the Creator, the invisible God. His Words says I can, so I take a step of faith. Testimonies share the unseen fruit.

South Sudan Update

One such testimony comes from deep inside the war-torn and newest country on earth, South Sudan. This is one of my favorite places—no ocean, stores, gas stations, hospitals, good water, or roads in this very hot, dusty, desert brushland. Mango trees, like lollipops, grow on the barren, distant mountains. A national, Samuel Muta, works with me. He has documentation of distributing both waters to millions of people in over 1,000 villages.

I asked Samuel to take me to the first village he served. As we crossed a small stream on the edge of “town,” a lady was shaking her finger at us as she filled her water container from that stream. I asked Samuel why. He said she was telling us that she was no longer afraid of sickness or death from drinking bad water because it was treated. We sat down in the village, and the person in charge of village water came out of her hut, bringing the Khlor-Gen system with her, and treated our river water. We sat down, and I was greatly taken back to see this unfold before my eyes. Throughout the day, people would stop us and give us good words of the work being done.

Life is simple, as it’s a new nation, yet it is unstable. On February 14, 2025, one more system was used to show the Gospel and treat water (see pictures). The testimony dated February 14 was:

• Attendance – 1,415• Salvations – 416• Baptisms – 3• Physical improvements

Democratic Republic of the Congo Update by Pastor Saidi

The lost world needs Christ. Yes, it needs the Gospel of grace, the love of God, the message of the finished work of Jesus Christ on the Cross, and water systems freely distributed to village groups. This remains a great way for us to help others while fulfilling the Great Commission. Sometimes we are terrified and discouraged. Our faith in Christ in obedience is always under trials.

After about five years of experience with the Pure Water Systems ministry, we have seen more than 8,000 souls receive Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Savior within cities and villages in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This includes surrounding countries, such as Zambia, Malawi, and Uganda, where we have reached out with the water-systems ministry.

Recently, just after our annual conference in November 2024, 2 more churches were planted under the blessings of water systems. Now we have 9 churches that have been planted, with the help of the water systems. Seven more churches were established; these 7 churches were already planted, but because of the help of the water systems, they have become much stronger in quantity and in fellowship with God.

So, 16 churches in general for now are beneficiaries of the water-systems ministry, and each church has more than 200 members. As an example, in my church today, we have more than 400 church members because of the help of the water-systems ministry.

If God opens a way, our next mission trip in February will be a soul-winning and church-planting mission trip to the western part of the country. We already have many expectations from God. Please help us realize this precious, divine mission and touch thousands of souls for Christ.

As the lost world needs Christ, in the same way, the fulfillment of the Great Commission needs the water systems to bring more souls to Christ and establish God’s kingdom in people’s lives. Christ is coming soon, and we have to work to prepare for His appearing as we fulfill His mission and purposes.

Pakistan 2024 Update by Pastor Shaukat Siddique

Last year, we visited 70 villages, and we were able to plant 40 new churches in different villages. By the grace of God, we witnessed in front of 3,000 people and saw 1,700 receive Jesus Christ.

We humbly gave Pure Water Systems (Khlor-Gens, I call them) to 1,933 villages in more than 24 countries during 2024. Praise the Lord! It’s all from obeying God’s Word—giving Jesus a drink of water.

Pray for the 600 villages receiving both the Gospel and the Khlor-Gen water-treatment systems in Congo, Ecuador, Pakistan, Ghana, Brazil, Nepal, and other countries. The battle is never ending, but God is in control.

In the photo on the right, we had just done a “chlorine and household hygiene” program that included some limited water-quality testing in one village. As you know, the amount of chlorine needed to dose water varies a little from well to well, and in any given well, seasonally too; but once you get the “rhythm” of it, you don’t need to test so often. After a program break, a LOT of folks brought water from their wells to test.

The program stirred up interest in a nearby village (see middle photo). The outcome of the regular presence of a Christian demonstrably attesting to God’s care for their health and giving testimony to the Lord Jesus, Who makes our spiritual hearts healthy when we apply the “treatment” of His sacrifice for our sins is seen in the top photo. Regular presence allows discipleship and discipleship allows evangelism. Together, they allow folks to become followers of Jesus who are then baptized, ultimately leading to church plants in village after village.

I don’t know if there’s a church in that second village yet, but there are at least two believers, and “For where two or three are gathered together in my name . . . .” While the time between the program and the baptisms was less than a month in this case, the pastor had been actively visiting, treating water, and discipling for some months before that. I think the program excitement and the Holy Spirit’s activity/flexibility just helped folks see God’s flexibility and care for them in THEIR circumstances. Nothing is too hard for him!

Hundreds of villages in these four continents—Africa, Asia, North America, and South America—are being reached with the Gospel, all since the last newsletter. There are too many testimonies to write about in this newsletter.

So far, God has sent Pure Water into over 1,500 villages in over 24 countries this calendar year. The Bible is taught. National pastors give the Gospel. New believers are baptized. Churches are started. People have improved health.

One testimony is from Pakistan, where their water was made safe to drink and the Gospel was given out in 20 rural villages. The joy of salvation and baptism in a new church can be seen by clicking on button below.

God has blessed us with 500 villages so far in 2024—that’s 2½ villages a day! They have their drinking water treated for decades to come, and they have had the Living Water preached to them. There are many testimonies to come. Many salvations are being reported, along with new church plants.

Work is performed by our teams, national pastors, and missionaries. This is ongoing in these 14 countries: Solomon Islands, Pakistan, Brazil, Peru, Kenya, Congo, Burkina Faso, Liberia, Nigeria, Zambia, Guam, Morocco, Philippines, and Ghana.

A Few Testimonies from Around the World

The first comes from Liberia. A man had typhoid, which is a waterborne disease. It is worse than having the flu and is often terminal. Hospitals have nothing to treat it. The man heard about the Pure Water treatment machine and went to the Baptist church in Saclepea, Nimba County, Liberia. He drank treated water and got healed. The pastor of the church presented the Gospel to him and his wife, and they both got saved. Currently, they both are members of the Baptist church and are serving in that church.

I wanted to relay another story about the impact your donations are making. There was a mountain village near Monterey, Mexico, whose source of water was very dirty, as you can see in the picture below. One of our team members was collecting water to purify it. The village not only got a treatment system, the Khlor Gen 3000 that should last for decades, they also got the Living Water of Jesus Christ, and many got saved.

This last testimony comes from the Ivory Coast. There was a young boy who was very ill. His belly was full of worms from the very water he was drinking. His father took him to the doctors. The doctors could not treat the boy and told him to return home because he had a big belly full of worms. We were able to provide the village with a water-purification system. The boy was able to receive pure drinking water and get well, and now he will have pure water for many years to come. He and his parents were able to hear the message of the Gospel as well.

One of the most moving stories we have heard back from the field comes to mind. A young couple in Africa was struggling to conceive, and after many years of no success, they had lost all hope. Unknown to them, the poor water conditions in their village were prohibiting the young woman’s body from having children.

Pure Water for All Foundation came to her village and treated the water. Shortly after they treated the water, she was able to conceive. Not only was the woman’s health improved greatly, but she was able to now fulfill a long-desired dream of hers to be a mother. Through this testimony, many more people in her village were able to hear the message of the Gospel, as well as receive the benefits of having access to pure water.

This is just one of the amazing stories we hear back from our teams regularly.

2023 Update from Pastor Harris Rancy of Ghana

According to my assistant pastor, Bro. Dominic:

In Togo:

1. About 4,750 persons were saved through the Hays Pure Water ministry.2. There were 2 new churches established.3. About 1,730 persons were physically healed from different sicknesses.4. We covered 437 villages in the Northwest and Southern parts of Togo.5. We influenced 27 evangelists through the water ministry.6. Dr. Ted Speer was able to train 105 pastors and church members from different churches about using the Hays Pure Water ministry to win souls.

In Benin:

1. About 1,180 persons received the Gospel and got saved through the ministry of different churches.2. We covered 21 churches within the capital city.3. We had 11 pastors get saved, and they now fellowship with the Baptist churches in the capital city.4. About 350 persons were healed from their diseases and sicknesses.

In Burkina Faso:

1. About 977 persons received the Gospel and got saved last year.2. We were able to give a chlorine generator to 54 churches.3. According to them, 3 new churches were started. We have not yet reached all of the villages.

In Sierra Leone:

1. About 2,000 heard the Gospel through the Hays Pure Water ministry.2. They started 1 new church, Pure Water Baptist Church, Pastor David Brooks, in the Northern part of the country.3. They trained 18 young people in soul-winning programs.

I strongly believe that God is doing great things through these ministries in West Africa. There are more needs to reach the rest of these communities. Please continue to pray for us and the ministry at large. I am not yet able to give you the results from the rest of the countries. I hope to have Ghana and the Ivory Coast statistics for you soon.

February 26, 2024, Message from Missionary John in Nepal

Warm Greetings, Dear Family, Friends, and Neighbors,

Thank you for your partnership investments, which continually encourage us to, in like manner, give beyond ourselves. We praise God for you, for your faithfulness with what He has placed in your hands, and for the privilege of serving as the Lord Jesus’ hands together with you, making His love known to those we meet. Thank you!

I am “between outings” now, having returned to Kathmandu from a challenging, but mostly successful, two weeks of equipping, traveling, and having meetings. This week, along with rest, I’m preparing more Safe Water equipment sets for distribution next week. Following our placement of the equipment and training those who will be using it as a ministry platform to serve others in their community, we’ll be doing follow-up training visits with some of those whom we’ve similarly equipped in years past, and we hope to augment their E-ports by providing household hygiene and sanitation training to mixed groups of their neighbors.

It was in one of these mixed-group trainings four years ago that Urmila first heard of a personal God and One Who was deeply interested in her ultimate well-being. Her budding understanding of THIS God was quite different from the impersonal, universal-force God of her Buddhist tradition. She sought to learn more about the Lord Jesus, Whom her Christian neighbors assured her was the very picture of God’s care for her. Village social traditions prevent her from becoming a follower of Jesus before her husband, but he is not opposed to the Lord Jesus because of the changes in Urmila and their family. This is ultimately what we hope to see more of in the future.

Pure Water has a request for 10,000 water systems. Not one can be provided at this time. Please pray for funding and for all of God’s will to be fulfilled.

This January 1, 2023, I am pleased to announce that Pure Water for All will have a new director, Brother David Boyce of First Baptist Church of Hammond. Brother David and his wife Stephanie will continue this water ministry the same as it has been run in the past. God showed me it was time to hand the baton over to the younger generation. I will continue co-laboring in the water ministry Stateside and overseas, as the Lord Jesus directs. All donations will continue to send water-treatment systems around the world. 

God is good! Over the past several days, 20 water-treatment systems are being installed in India, 56 more are being shipped out to native missionaries, 1 to Mexico, and 55 to Uganda. Souls have been trusting Christ in India from a previous order. 

A testimony of salvation and improved health from Pastor Caleb Mvita (pictured on the right) is below: 

Greetings Dear Brother John Hays, 

Hope you are doing well, Sir. I just want to share with you this little testimony and thanksgiving from a group of people from a church in one of village called N’sele Antenna here in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. 

(I visited these people last year and gave them Pure Water for All systems to use for their healthcare and for some sickness solutions. Out of that, we shared God’s Word, and then I left them. Last week, I received a call phone from their pastor, Pastor Caleb Mvita, thanking God for the Pure Water for All systems and testifying how these machines had helped them so much in a way that even they, nor I, could have imagined.) 

Pastor Mvita continues . . . 

1. My wife Hortance had a sickness on her left leg. Just one day, my wife woke up and saw something coming up on her leg. After scratching it, her leg started swelling, and after two days, her leg became so big to the level that she couldn’t walk, neither could she sleep because the pain was too much. I took my wife to the hospital, but there was no solution. We used local herbs according to other people, but there was no healing at all. So, we just started using the purified water by the Pure Water for All system three times a day (in the morning, at noon, and in the evening before we went to sleep). After just a few days, the swelling in her leg started to come down, the pain reduced, and, as of the writing of this letter, MY WIFE IS HEALED COMPLETELY. SHE CAN WALK, DO EVERYTHING NORMALLY, AND SLEEP WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. PRAISE GOD! 

2. Most of the people in the village, those who use the purified water, are testifying how these machines have really helped them in regards to their health conditions. They have noticed that a lot of sicknesses they used to fall into, today they are no longer getting those sicknesses.

3. These machines have also been great tools in my hands for the giving the Gospel and the winning of lost souls. A lot of people are coming and seeking to meet me for pure water, and out of these meetings, I share the good news of the Cross of Christ and the saving grace of God for their lives. As results, the number of our church members has increased amazingly. We used to meet with about 15 – 20 people for about 4 years, but today, we have 80 – 100 church members after just about 8 months. Other people are coming from other villages to praise God with us. PRAISE GOD! 

4. Our hearts are filled with joy and praise to God, thanking God for you, dear Brother John Hays, all the donors, and all the team staff who are working to make this ministry complete its purposes before God. God bless you all. Amen. 

I sent him 15 more machines, as Pastor Mvita requested that we keep helping them out. The machines were received with openness of hearts and much joy. I plan to revisit them soon, by God’s leading. 

My hope is that you can share in the fruits of God’s hand.
